What are your research interests?
Research interests largely incorporate the field of synthetic organic chemistry; specifically; medicinal/pharmaceutical, biomedical and polymer chemistries.
How did you first get involved with SCI?
I spoke with an SCI representative during the first year of my PhD, and being interested in industry, I decided to join to find out more. I found membership beneficial, and I liked the idea of volunteering, so I thought I would actively get involved.
What do you hope to gain from your involvement with SCI?
I’d ultimately like to further my understanding and knowledge of the chemical sciences, and how they relate to academia, industry and government scientific policy. I’m also interested in learning more about the commercialisation and innovation processes of chemical and pharmaceutical products, and I’m keen to share my enthusiasm for my discipline, gain knowledge, and network.
Why would you encourage your peers to join SCI?
It is a great opportunity to hear from the interface between academia and the chemical industry, to network, and meet peers. Membership will expose you to cutting edge research, and also enhance your understanding of innovation in the chemical sciences.
