Synopsis

Sir George Beilby's long and remarkable career as scientist and industrialist was marked by an enduring interest in the twin concerns of fuel economy and smoke abatement. 

The Beilby Medal and Prize are awarded annually to a scientist or engineer to recognise substantial work of exceptional practical significance in chemical engineering, applied materials science, energy efficiency, or a related field. 

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s Beilby Medal will be Prof Jin Xuan. Professor Xuan graduated with a PhD degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2012, with the research topic in energy and environment engineering.

Speakers

Prof Jin Xuan

Loughborough University

Professor Xuan graduated with a PhD degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2012, with the research topic in energy and environment engineering.
His academic career in the UK started in 2014, when he took up a Lectureship in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. He was appointed as the Associate Director of the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) at Heriot-Watt in 2017.
Professor Xuan joined Loughborough University in 2018 as a Senior Lecturer, was promoted to Professor and awarded a Personal Chair in Low Carbon Processes in 2019 and became Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering in 2020.
