Synopsis
Following the successful 2023 event, the Fine Chemicals Group and Young Chemists’ Panel are proud to present the return of the “Chemist in Industry” meeting. It combines a one-day meeting with a poster session, networking and award for the best talk.
Solving chemistry problems is central to so many industries and it is the people in the laboratories who make this happen.
This is a meeting to celebrate and recognise that community. It presents an opportunity to learn how problems are overcome with new chemical methodology and technology in different industries. Prizes will be awarded for the best talk and runners-up.

Attendees
This meeting will be of interest to chemists working in all chemical industries (e.g. pharmaceutical, catalysis, agrochemical, computational). Laboratory-based scientists and technical experts (e.g. computational chemists) with several years’ industry experience are encouraged to attend. Perhaps you are in a second or third role in industry and are looking to expand your professional network. It presents a superb opportunity for chemists to showcase the relevance of chemistry to industrial research, providing attendees opportunities to develop their CV with options of presenting and networking.
Call for speakers

We are inviting talks from speakers from across the chemical industry (e.g. pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, materials, catalysis, agrochemical, computational). Talks should be 30 minutes in length and present the relevance of chemistry to problem solving in industrial applications. They should be from experienced laboratory-based scientists who have had direct involvement in the work described.

Please send an abstract (100 words max) with the subject line “Chemist in Industry – oral submission”, along with a title, scheme or figure (if applicable) and a very brief career history to conferences@soci.org by Friday 25 October 2024. An abstract template can be downloaded here.

Call for posters

Opportunities are available for a limited number of posters which align with the theme of the meeting. Interested applicants should send an abstract (maximum one A4 page) by Thursday 24 October 2024 with the subject line “Chemist in industry – poster submission”. An abstract template can be downloaded here.
