The role of advocacy in accelerating the transition to more sustainable chemicals
As the key to removing dirt and stains, chemicals are critical to the superior cleaning performance of Unilever’s Home Care products, but they also represent most of its greenhouse gas footprint. Lowering the emissions linked to the chemicals it buys is a key part of its Climate Transition Action Plan and is vital for progressing towards its Net Zero by 2039 ambition. Despite being a large global company, Unilever is a relatively small player in the chemical industry. So, it is working with a broad range of stakeholders – including policymakers, NGOs, industry, academics, and trade associations – to drive a faster transition.
