This SCI sponsored training course is intended to provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for chemists and engineers who are involved with the specification, operation and maintenance of ion exchange water purification plant. The course is designed for utilities engineers, plant supervisors, chemists and those needing a better understanding of water purification by ion exchange. It will also be of value to graduate trainees in consultancies, EPC contractors, operating companies and water treatment plant suppliers.
Delegates should have a good knowledge of chemistry, basic hydraulics and plant equipment.
This is a sister course to the Basic Ion Exchange for Industrial Water Treatment course and is aimed at chemists and engineers with responsibility for the design and modelling of new and existing ion exchange plant and those with responsibility for operating, optimising and troubleshooting existing plant.

Industry sectors for whom this course is relevant include power stations, heavy chemicals, refining and petrochemicals, pulp & paper, steel, breweries, etc.
The purified water may be required for utilities and process duties.
Attendees should have a working knowledge of ion exchange processes, with ideally some hands-on experience. A degree-level qualification is desirable, but not essential.
Single en-suite rooms will be available at the University of Chester halls of residence, adjacent to the building where the course will take place for a cost of £80 for 2 nights - Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 July (departing Thursday 10 July) and can be booked at the same time as your registration for the course. A limited number of double rooms will also be available.
Rail
Trains run regularly to Chester from London Euston, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham as well as many other places. The journey time from London by train is approximately 2 hours.
