Synopsis

The Ivan Levinstein Memorial Lecture is given in honour of Ivan Levinstein who was one of the founding members of SCI and who was SCI President (1901-1903). Ivan built up a dye colourant business in Manchester, which later became part of ICI. He was keen on education and was a campaigner for a municipal technical college in Manchester, which later became the Faculty of Technology at Manchester University. He also helped change the UK patent law.

This year's honorary lecture is to be given by Professor Richard Horrocks on the topic 'The role of technical textiles in fire protection'. The lecture promises to be both entertaining and informative. Professor Horrocks is an expert in this field.
