This is the second meeting of the SCI mid-career group. The mid-career group examines what is needed for a mid-career professional who wishes to develop in their current role or is thinking about their next career step. In the inaugural meeting, a number of taster workshops were run, focusing on career development. In this event the focus is on networking.
A ‘mid-career professional’ is defined as someone who:
Networking can be a useful tool to enable career changes and is an easy way to gain and maintain relationships with other professionals within the wider scientific industry. Networking can enable; new customer relationships, broadening knowledge and skills, career opportunities, personal development, new professional areas and potential investments.
This evening event consists of a networking focused talk, followed by a speed networking event. The speaker Nigel Fenwick (Head of Global Talent & People Development at Croda) will speak about the importance of networking to support career development and innovation. The speed networking event will allow participants to put the discussed networking techniques into practice while making new industry contacts.
