Recent Advances in Surface Analysis

Organised by:

SCI Early Careers Materials Chemistry

Cardiff University

Registration Closed

This event is no longer available for registration.

Synopsis

This event will comprise of a series of seminars discussing recent advances in force microscopy – including atomic force microscopy and photo-induced FM. We will be looking in particular detail at the exciting new developments in PIFM, which adds the analytical power of vibrational spectroscopy to the sophisticated topographical information of atomic force microscopy (AFM). PiFM adds direct chemical mapping through the molecular specificity of infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Its spatial resolution is ~5 nm.

Laboratory and instrument tours of the new Translational Research Hub at Cardiff University will take place, permitting delegates to take a close look at the unique facilities available to researchers in industry and academia for intricate surface analysis.

We will also be looking at how these techniques may be integrated into specific analysis fields – such as electrochemistry, environmental studies and catalysis.
