Synopsis

The Society of Chemical Industry and AstraZeneca would like to offer the opportunity for final-year undergraduate chemistry students to present their work on a national stage. Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the eighth edition of the National Undergraduate Research Symposium will be a virtual poster competition held online. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your research within the academic and industrial communities. We look forward to seeing the best undergraduate research in an exciting and novel format and we hope this is some better news in difficult times.

Details

  • The posters will be presented online between 16 and 26 June 2020. You don’t need to be available for this entire period but must be available to submit your completed poster before 13 June 2020.
  • To take part, you must complete the application form below before 29 May 2020. You will hear by email if you are successful by 5 June 2020.
  • You must be a final year undergraduate student at a UK university and have completed a lab-based research project as part of your study. We will accept posters in areas including but not limited to synthesis, methodology, catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, physical organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology.
  • We are aware that different students and institutions have different types and timelines for their projects and they will have been affected differently by the lockdown and we will take this into account when judging. Please don’t let this put you off from applying to the competition.
  • You must obtain permission from your supervisor to present your work. You should do this before completing the form below and we will check with your supervisor by email.
  • You may provide an audio commentary to accompany your poster.
  • AstraZeneca has generously provided prize(s) for the best posters as selected by judges from academia and industry; as well as additional prize(s) selected by the participants. We will not be able to provide feedback on individual posters.
