Following OBN’s conversations with Mary Nnankya representing SCI’s Membership Affairs Committee and Thames and Kennet Regional Group, SCI has signed a reciprocal and mutually beneficial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OBN.
SCI is a unique multidisciplinary forum where science meets business on independent and impartial grounds. Established in 1881 as the Society of Chemical Industry, SCI is today a registered charity with individual members in over 70 countries. Its headquarters are in London.
Since its foundation, SCI's principal objective has been to further the application of chemistry and related sciences for the public benefit, through its events and publications.
OBN is a not-for-profit membership organisation supporting and bringing together the UK’s emerging life sciences companies, corporate partners and investors. Its aim is: To Support the UK's Emerging Life Sciences Companies
In this partnership, both parties will benefit from introductions to companies and organisations that are within their respective memberships including SMEs and the NHS in the case of OBN.
Len Copping, Chair of the Membership Affairs Committee and SCI Honorary Secretary, said that this association was ‘an exciting opportunity for SCI to work closely with OBN. SCI and OBN (UK) Ltd have complementary skills, expertise and services that are relevant to our respective clients, customers, members and networks of business and other contacts. This MOU will allow us to work together for the mutual benefit of all our respective customers and members. It gives us both an opportunity to engage with different people and different skill sets. It marks a landmark step forward for both organisations’.
