During this talk, Dr Simon Ellwood Head of Health & Well-being Centre of Excellence – Fragrance and Active Beauty Division, Givaudan, will not only provide a history of fragrances but will focus on the chemistry and tools behind the invention, identification, and the production of ingredients. Dr Ellwood will then explain the science behind the formulation of the ingredients into safe fragrance formulas, incorporated into consumer products.

Dr Simon Ellwood is Head of Health & Well-being Centre of Excellence – Fragrance and Active Beauty Division, Givaudan. He is first and foremost a scientist with an expertise in chemistry and a passion for fragrance which he has developed over a twenty-seven year career in the Flavours and Fragrances industry.
His current focus is on how fragrances can be designed through scientific understanding to provide benefits such as enhancing the well-being and happiness of the consumer or reducing the impact of their malodour challenges in the environment, on laundry or from themselves!
Dr Ellwood has also focused on the sustainable development of manufacturing processes for a number of key fragrance ingredients used in fragrances and fragranced products around the globe.
