SCI is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2018 DSAs as Kevin Smith, Tim Reynolds, and Parkash Kochhar.
Kevin Smith became an SCI member in 1989, joining the former Oils & Fats group committee in 2003. In 2005, he became its Vice-Chair and served as the committees Chair from 2007 to 2011. During this time, he was responsible for the group’s name change to Lipids to become more inclusive of people in the industry. He was re-elected Vice-Chair of the Lipids group in 2015 and took over as Chair in 2017. Kevin has been responsible for organising a number of successful events that have promoted SCI across Europe, including in Ghent, Belgium, and as part of the European Federation of Lipid Sciences.
Tim Reynolds joined SCI in 1987 and has served on a number of committees during his time at SCI. Currently, he is an active member of the Early Careers Committee (ECC) and has organised SCI’s successful Scholars’ Day for the past two years, himself providing training at ECC events when needed. Other groups that Tim has been involved in are: Marketing & Membership (2000-10); Marketing & Development Advisory (2007-13); and Membership Affairs Committee (2013-15).
Parkash Kochhar, has been an SCI member since 1974 – for over 40 years. For most of this time, Parkash has sat on the committee of the Lipids group – formerly Oils & Fats – and has served as Chair (July 2001-October 2003; June 2015-June 2017), Vice-Chair (August 2004-June 2015), and Treasurer (June 2012-August 2014). Parkash has been integral to SCI’s involvement with the European Federation of Lipid Sciences and to the success of its associated annual congress. He also served on SCI’s Council from 2001 to 2003.
SCI would like to thank the 2018 DSA winners, for their dedicated support of SCI, and congratulate them on this achievement.
