The SCI Colloid & Surface Chemistry Group is calling for nominations for the 2017 Sir Eric Rideal Lecture. The award celebrates a late career/lifetime achievement of researchers and technologists who have made sustained and outstanding contributions to colloid and interface science or its applications.
Proposers and seconders must be members of SCI or the RSC, although candidates need not themselves be members.
To be eligible, candidates will normally have enjoyed a professional career of 30+ years duration, much of it in the UK, even if not UK-based currently. International candidates who have had a substantial and widely recognised impact upon the UK colloid and interface community will also be considered.
The deadline for nominations is 1 March 2016.
The committee will make a decision at their committee meeting in March 2016, based on the case made by the proposers, together with what is known about the candidates in the public domain. The outcome will be announced soon as possible thereafter and the Lecture will most likely be given at a dedicated event in early 2017.
Those intending to propose a candidate are encouraged to contact the Award Coordinator, Dr Richard Buscall, for further guidance regarding eligibility before submitting their nomination. This can be done via the contact page accessible via the link below.
