SCI's Fine Chemicals Group delivered the 26th Postgraduate Symposium on Novel Organic Chemistry at Strathclyde University on 9 April 2015. The event, excellently organised by Drs Allan Watson and David Nelson, was very well attended with around 100 people in the lecture theatre. We were treated to nine great talks covering natural product chemistry, theoretical chemistry, catalysis, and medicinal chemistry.
The winning talk was given by Patrick Brown (pictured right), University of Edinburgh, entitled Biomimetic Synthesis of Phenylethanoid Alkaloids.
The runner up was Morag Watson (pictured left), University of Strathclyde, who described Molecular Tools for the Ubiquitin Proteasome System.
Before the meeting started and during the mid-session coffee break there was an opportunity to meet and talk with exhibitors from Fluorochem and Advion. This also enabled participants to network with other delegates with a shared interest.
