The use of antimicrobials has increased in recent years, which has led to a rise in resistant strains of pathogens. With the alarming prospect of curable diseases becoming untreatable, it is vital that we refresh the drug pipeline with new therapies and therapeutics that act through novel modes of action.
There is now a renewed interest from industry and academia to a revive antimicrobial drug research, with the exciting prospect of new and innovative technologies and approaches for combating infection.
This event will examine the current state of the art in antimicrobial drug discovery from a medicinal chemist's perspective. Speakers from industry and academia will highlight the challenges associated with discovering and developing new antimicrobials, while showcasing the development of strategies to tackle infection.
