News from DuPont

Cereals growers will have two new broadleaf herbicide options for the 2017 growing season. DuPont's Sentrallas and Travallas herbicides have received federal registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Full commercial launch is planned for the 2017 growing season. Sentrallas and Travallas will give growers effective broadleaf weed control combined with tank-mixing, application and recropping flexibility for customized weed control that will suit field and market conditions.

Sentrallas and Travallas each contain two modes of action for effective control of broadleaf weeds such as kochia (including ALS-resistant), catchweed bedstraw, Russian thistle, pigweed species, lambsquarters and mustard species in the Northern Plains. Growers in the Southern Plains can use Sentrallas to control kochia, henbit, wild buckwheat and mustard species, and manage marestail. The flexible application window of both herbicides allows growers to apply any time between the two-leaf stage and the flag leaf stage so they can respond to weather and weed conditions. Management of marestail requires adding MCPA or 2,4-D to the tank mix. When tank-mixing Sentrallas and Travallas, refer to partner labels as this may limit application timing.

Sentrallas offers flexible recropping options, empowering growers to adjust management strategies as needed for the next season. Travallas contains three active ingredients for powerful broad-spectrum broadleaf weed control on non-rotational acres.

The liquid formulations simplify handling and tank-mixing. Sentrallas and Travallas herbicides are compatible with most common broadleaf and grass herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, liquid fertilizers and adjuvants.

Extensive multi-state trials with Sentrallas and Travallas have demonstrated an excellent crop safety profile that maintains plant health to maximize return on investment.

'Cereal growers have struggled with the loss of yield due to hard-to-control broadleaf weeds. Weed populations are becoming resistant to traditional cereal herbicides, which limits options for effective control,' said James Hay, business director, North America, DuPont Crop Protection. 'The addition of Sentrallas and Travallas to our cereals herbicide portfolio provides growers with advanced liquid herbicide technology that can be customized for their unique challenges. Multiple modes of action and flexible tank-mix options make these herbicides powerful yield protectors against the most difficult weeds.'

Growers and applicators should review product labels for application rates and recropping intervals to determine the best herbicide programs for their crop protection needs.

'We are listening to our growers and collaborating with them to develop products that address their key concerns as we all work together to increase food production. Sentrallas and Travallas will form the foundation of an effective cereals weed control program to increase yield and overall productivity,' added Hay.

Sentrallas and Travallas are included in the TruChoice rewards program, which matches individualized crop protection solutions with farm management goals to maximize agronomic and economic advantages on every acre. DuPont has been recognized with 21 Agrow Awards, including the Best R&D Pipeline Award in 2013 and 2014.
