At the 16 May 2012 BoT meeting, the Board approved the 2011 Trustees' Report and Final Accounts. Copies will be available at the AGM. The Annual Review, which summarises our performance during 2011, will be sent out to all members with the AGM pack later this month. Trustees discussed the review of awards and approved the reintroduction of scholarships and travel bursaries from next year, following the break this year to allow time for the review.
The 2013 programme will be announced in the last quarter of this year. We also discussed early career activities and confirmed the importance of involving early career members from industry.
Members in this category who would like to participate in the Early Career Support Sub-Committee are encouraged to contact SCI. This is an opportunity to help to shape the future of SCI to meet the needs of current and future generations of SCI members.
The generous legacy from former member, Dr Sydney Andrew (estimated value £1.3m) was formally accepted by the Board. A working party has started to consider how the legacy might best be used to support the objectives of SCI while also meeting the wishes of the benefactor.
