In 2015, we introduced World Malaria Day commemoration among future SCI activities1.We have since received tremendous support from both SCI members and staff to make commemoration of this day a regular occurrence in the years to come. Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease yet more than 600,000 deaths are still recorded in a single year. This year’s theme is ‘Eradicate Malaria for Good’. We believe that the international and multidisciplinary aspect of SCI offers an excellent platform from which to source ideas to develop and implement projects which will contribute towards the efforts to eradicate Malaria for Good! This capacity has been encouraged by various members from the Biotechnology, Agrisciences , Environment, Health and Safety Groups, and from MAC)and SCI staff’s willingness to support this project. We are confident that members from other SCI Technical and Regional Interest Groups will soon join us in this effort as we progress.
We hope you will learn, enjoy and find inspiration in the articles we will bring to you during this period and become involved in this global venture.
